[Windows] Olympus DSS Player Pro R5 Update Available – R5.0.13

If you use DSS Player Pro, either the dictation module or transcription module software from Olympus, a update to version R5.0.13 has become available. The small update is an important one if you receive audio (transcriptionist) or share digital dictaphones in your office as this bring DSS Player Pro in line with the very latest digital dictaphones recently released by Olympus – the Olympus DS-7000 (replaced the DS-5000) and Olympus DS-3500 (replaced the DS-3400).

Although R5 software at the previous version R5.0.12 was compatible with audio recorded on these new digital voice recorders in their default setting (recording DSS Pro .ds2 audio files), ODMS (Olympus Dictation Management System R6) has the option to encrypt/decrypt audio at 256bit. Older recorders like the DS-5000 and earlier versions of DSS Player Pro R5 could only encrypt/decrypt 128bit audio. Don’t worry, if you don’t encrypt your audio then your R5 DSS Player Pro software will be able to play the audio files from the new DS-7000/DS-3500.

Added to the R5 dictation module was support for the DS-7000/DS-3500 when connected to a PC with R5 DSS Player Software. The devices will be recognised and audio can be synced, however you will not be able to make changes to the DS-7000/DS-3500 via R5 software you will need ODMS for this. ODMS R6 dictation module is supplied with both the Olympus DS-7000 and DS-3500 digital voice recorders.

1.DSSPro 256-bit encryption support
With the DS-5000, it is now possible to set the 256-bit encryption function for audio files.To do the settings, it is necessary to update the DS-5000 firmware to a version that supports the 256-bit encryption function.
In addition, the DSSPro file 256-bit encryption and decryption can be done with the dictation module/transcription module.

2. Windows 2000 is not supported.

3. ODMS R6 Compatibility
Modified process to handle audio files so that Olympus Dictation Management System (ODMS) runs correctly in the environment in which it is running.

4. DS-7000/3500 Compatibility
Modified process so file downloading and direct recording are done normally when connected to a new model device (DS-7000/3500). Device option settings are not supported.

When DSS Player Pro is installed to a client via an Active Directory, etc., in silent mode, make sure to install .NET Framework 2.0 stored in the Redist folder before installing DSS Player Pro. Please copy LICENSE.DAT to the distributed package when silent installation occurs. For obtaining the LICENSE.DAT, please contact your dealer or distributor.

• Olympus AS-7003 – Upgrade from DSS Player Pro R5 dictation module to ODMS R6 dictation module. AU$59 incl. GST.
• Olympus AS-7004 – Upgrade from DSS Player Pro R5 transcription module to ODMS R6 transcription module. AU$59 incl. GST.
