Better late than never Olympus have recently released an update to their DSS Player Plus v7 software for Mac (this is the Mac equivalent of the ODMS R6 and DSS Player Pro R5 dictation and transcription module software on Windows). The latest update, v7.5.1 brings just two changes, Yosemite compatibility plus an Olympus name change from Olympus Imaging to Olympus Corporation.
Many of you I am sure have already upgraded your Mac OS to the latest and greatest version OS X, v10.10 Yosemite as this was released back in October 2014. Luckily v7.5.0 of the Olympus DSS Player Plus v7 software has been running on Yosemite without issue. Now with the v7.5.1 upgrade, only 8 months after the Yosemite release, comes official Olympus compatibility.
If you are having trouble installing DSS Player Plus v7 from the disk which came with your DS-7000/DS-3500 or AS-7000 then your best option is to:
- Install DSS Player Plus v7.5.0 for Mac Full (approx. 72Mb – download from here)
- Apply the DSS Player Plus v7.5.1 Update (approx. 38Mb – download from here)
To play back your .dss or .ds2 digital dictation on a Mac you will require the Olympus DSS Player Plus v7 software.
You must have a valid DSS Player Plus v7 for Mac licence key. The key came with your Professional Olympus Dictation DS-7000/DS-3500 dictaphones or the AS-2400/AS-7000 transcription kits. The Mac licence key is the number at the bottom of the green square licence certificate (not the key that starts RT6xx or RD6xx for current models and RT5xx and RD5xx for older models). If you have lost your licence certificate a new one can be purchased for your Mac, this is Olympus AS-7001 and is $129 incl. GST. Your licence certificate will look like this:

I also recently upgraded MAC OS on two computers not knowing there is an issue with the pedal. My typist has now do it by hands what she does not find great or she has to use Windows computer where pedal (RS-31 USB foot control) is still working.
Not great experience at all.
Best wishes,
Hi!
Thanks for your super useful article on the dss player update. I was wondering if you had any insight on my particular situation? I am using dss player plus version 7.2.5 on my macbook pro, version 10.10.5 Yosemite.
The foot pedal I purchased, rs-24 seems not work. Ugh!
Do you know which footpedal would work with yosemite and dss player plus, version 7?
Your help would be the best.
Hello Chloe
You need an RS-27, RS-28 or RS-31 pedal. The RS-24 has long been discontinued.
Hope that helps.
Dave
